Local residents refer to Fox Island as “The Island,” and this small-town suburban community is ideal for those who want to be in a more secluded atmosphere and surrounded by nature, yet not too far off from larger city amenities. Fox Island is a sanctuary for outdoorsy enthusiasts who enjoy staying active with activities like boating and fishing just as much as they love to relax and watch the local deer saunter by.

Connected to Gig Harbor by the Fox Island Bridge, Fox Island is not as far off the beaten path as some may believe. Travel times to more centrally located conveniences are similar to living in north or west Gig Harbor, and you have the added benefit of being able to enjoy “island life.” Photo-worthy, panoramic views await at every turn, and you have front row seats to some of the most amazing sunset scenes in the region.

Locals enjoy gathering at places like Zog’s (sip on a beer with your neighbors), the Fox Island Yacht Club, and the Nichols Community Center, the latter of which offers a playground and sport fields and is home to several community events throughout the year. From the FIRCA Fair and the Christmas Tree Lighting & Concert to the Fox Island Easter Egg Hunt and more, this island’s small population of fewer than 4,000 residents means you have a chance to meet and truly get to know your fellow Fox Islanders. Bella Bella Beach is another popular destination—walk out onto the sandspit and get your toes wet, or take a picnic along and enjoy a laid-back afternoon in the fresh air.

Fox Island offers a great variety of properties, and you’ll find that many homes are tucked away in private, woodsy settings. Everything from Northwest contemporaries to waterfront estates make up Fox Island’s real estate market, and many homes were built in the 1970s to late 1990s.
